“Just a glimpse into the incredible weekend I had opening for Jefferson Starship at the Belly Up in San Diego, CA, as seen here through the eyes of China… you might recognize her from such hits as, “HER MOM IS Grace Slick” ! Add to that her character, just as sharp and accurate as can be… I owe this band a full-on blog, and I AM GONNA DO THAT.

Just waiting for some cool vids to upload…

But last weekend was just unforgettable. It was pure magic… and it really was a dream come true with Cathy Richardson, our host and lead singer for today’s Jefferson Starship, and now we know WHY it is THIS operation out on the road, that has the full-on endorsement from those who created the enterprise… Cathy is just on fire amazing. She has captured the very essence of this operation, and can focus every FIBER of its intensity… its rich history… and then even add a touch of her own just perfect degree of rough, raw, rockiness, just to top it off? Let me tell ya… as lead singers go, male or female, Cathy WINS. What an amazing performance this band delivers.

I was awestruck in my own little space capsule as the show ensued… an experience I’ll never forget.

And then… Including (but certainly not limited to) this spectacular cast…

David Freiberg – THE David Freiberg, the same one you remember from the band’s very inception. He shares the lead vocal spots with Cathy, and at age 80 (he’s prolly sick of hearing about that part lol) he’s still just crankin’ out those high pitches with ease, and still with the kind of POWER which does scream ROCK n ROLL, folks… it’s one of the most inspiring things to witness from behind the scenes, I can’t even tell ya… what a beautiful guy, too. His smile was absolutely electric.
Chris Smith – keys (in one word… SOLID. But much more on him, soon.)
Donny Baldwin – drums (like, THE Donny Baldwin, people… same guy who’s in the videos for We Built This City, etc…)
Jude Gold – one of the fanciest rockinest guitarists I’ve EVER… such a great silent leader up there, at least for me, on stage with this legendary band. I’ve got plenty more on him, too… so stay tuned!

Aria‘s already yelling at me for writing too much already… but and you DO know, if you know me at all… I really am just gettin’ started.

I LOVE THESE PEOPLE, AND I LOVE THEIR MUSIC. THANK YOU to YOU, Jefferson Starship from your Fiddler for life. ”  – Alex DePue
